Q. Can you tell us something about your pet?

A. My pet’s name is Naughty and she is a Shih Tzu. She is 5 & a half years old

Q. What was it like when you first saw her?

A. I had brought her home when she was 4 months old. She was very scared of being alone and that’s one of the reason why she wanted to sleep in my room with me and my wife.

Q. What has been the biggest challenge of being a pet parent?

A. Since she is my first pet, for us a challenge was to understand her food habits, what she needs, and what was she trying to convey through her actions. I also had a problem to make her understand that we are always there for her and she does not have to fear anything.

Q. What has been the rewarding part of being a pet parent?

A. The most rewarding part of having her around is that no matter how frustrated I am, she always makes me happy.

Q. What has been your learning experience of being a pet parent?

A. I have learned that like humans, pets are very affectionate and intelligent which enables them to understand several things from our gestures as well as our facial expression. They also like to stay with people around them.

Q. Can you give us a message for new / aspiring pet parent?

A. If you are getting a new pet then initially it might be tough to handle them but with time you learn to handle them. Again, getting a pet is not a burden but a responsibility and you should be prepared to fulfil their needs. Treating them as a family member will help you to take care of them in the best possible way.
