Story of a Labrador with an OCD problem!

Q. Can you give us a basic introduction about yourself?
A. My name is Parigan and I am a CFA student.

Q. Can you tell me something about your pet?
A. My pet’s name is Siya Jain and she is a Labrador. It’s been 4 years since she came into my life but it feels like she was meant to be with me for a lifetime.

Q. What was it like when you first met her?
A. I was a bit scared and got a tad bit nervous around her. But over time I realized that I had a growing fondness for her and I am now super protective about her.

Q. What has been the biggest challenge of being a pet parent?
A. I feel it is the communication barrier that is the most difficult to deal with, like the other day she was just barking at me like she wanted something and it took me a while to realize that her water bowl was empty. Another challenge is how OCD this dog can be about cleanliness! If her bed is not washed and cleaned out, she will not sleep in it until I have cleaned it to her satisfaction.

Q. What was the rewarding of being a pet parent?
A. Having the love of a pet is rewarding. Life may have its ups and downs but I know that at the end of the day my Siya will always stand by me. Whenever I come home after a rough day, I know I have my best friend always by my side wagging her tail.

Q. What was the best learning experience you had as being a pet parent?
A. One of the biggest things I have noticed is that no matter how many times you shout or hurt a dog, they will never deem you a bad person. This is something I find particularly admirable because humans find it so difficult to love after their trust has been broken.

Q. One message for aspiring pet parents?
A. Give all the love that you can give to your pet and watch how in return they will give you love so pure and so giving, it will change your life.
